(Filed Under wholesale Activewear News). Just in time for the strong rays of summer, Lululemon has created a fabric with built in UVA protection, coined UPF Sheer Jersey. The company has debuted in The Run: Sun Blocker LS, a long sleeved runners shirt constructed from UPF Sheer Jersey and Circle Mesh fabric. It is available immediately through Lululemon’s website at $68 retail in women’s sizes 4 through 12. It comes in shades of white, green, light blue/coral and purple/white.

According to the company’s blog, the UPF Sheer Jersey is unique in offering lightweight sun protection. The post reads: “Most UPF fabrics are considered thick, but we’ve been able to keep ours very thin, lightweight, and made sure to give you the anti-stink properties you love.” The sun-blocking fabric is placed in high-exposure areas of the body, such as the forearms and chest, and includes thumbholes to keep sleeves in place. It cautioned, however, that the fabric does not serve as a replacement for sunscreen.

Lululemon is a Canadian designer and retailer of technical activewear for yoga, running, dancing “and most other sweaty pursuits.”
