Through an exclusive, multi-year international agreement, swimwear company Blue By Yoo will manufacturer, distribute and market women’s swimsuits under the Frederick’s of Hollywood brand. This marks Frederick’s of Hollywood’s first agreement under the licensing initiative it launched this January.
Blue By Yoo plans to launch a limited edition line during Memorial Day Weekend. The company will sell the swimwear through Frederick’s of Hollywood retail stores, catalog and website, as well as department stores, intimate apparel boutiques and more.
Ron W. Yoo, president and chief executive officer of Blue By Yoo, expects Frederick’s of Hollywood’s lingerie aesthetic to translate easily into swimwear. “The Frederick’s of Hollywood brand fits perfectly into today’s swimwear market, offering customers the ability to show their sexy Hollywood inspired style on the beach or at the pool,” he said. “The timing of this agreement will allow us to show a sneak peak of what’s to come in the 2011 season.”
Thomas Lynch, chairman and chief executive officer of Frederick’s of Holllywood, also expressed excitement about the agreement. “This is a natural extension for the Frederick’s of Hollywood brand and caters to our existing customers needs and lifestyles,” he said. “Swimwear was one of the first markets we wanted to enter with our new licensing initiatives. We believe the potential for a swimwear line under the Frederick’s of Hollywood name is significant, and partnering with Blue By Yoo offers us considerable market experience and a distribution network that extends beyond our own stores and catalog.”
