(Filed Under wholesale Accessories News). A new cleavage-concealing garment has hit the marketplace. JL Horn Apparel, a California-based manufacturer, has introduced a line of cropped camisoles designed for wear over a bra to provide coverage under low-cut tops and dresses. Styles retail for $29 to $31, and run in sizes XS through 4X. They are available in basic shades of black, white and ivory, as well as red; brown; charcoal; navy; and violet. Each camisole is sold with a matching drawstring bag.
Jennie Horn, chief executive officer and founder of Second Base, created the garment out of necessity. As a designer in a corporate office, she struggled with finding clothes that fit both her personal style and the conservative culture of the office. “I wanted to look stylish and professional without having to reinvent my wardrobe,” Horn said.
“I realized that a camisole with less fabric would allow me to wear my favorite pieces at work without feeling self-conscious or dealing with the extra bulkiness of a regular camisole.”
Currently, the Second Base line consists of four styles coined Sarah, which is “similar to a classic camisole” with adjustable straps that allow the wearer to choose the amount of coverage she would like; Meredith, featuring a high back and wide straps to conceal bra straps; Marlo, inspired by men’s undershirts; and Brittany, which is similar to the Sarah, but include a lace trim.
Second Base products can be found at retailers including La Petite Coquette and Town Shop in New York City. For further information, call (917) 572-9141.
