(Filed Under wholesale Ballet News). Capezio, a company that specializes in dance apparel, shoes and accessories, will be opening its third store on January 23rd.
Designed by architects Metzger/Metzger, the new 1600-square-foot store will hold a grand opening for the public on Friday the 23rd from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. To celebrate the opening, the entire store, which is located at 201 Amsterdam Avenue (at 69th Street), will be 20 percent off. In addition, there will be giveaways, dance celebrity appearances, signings and refreshments.
"The new Amsterdam Avenue store embodies a special kind of essence and aesthetic, which represents the legacy of our company," said Donna Schauer, the vice president of marketing. "Situated as it is within strolling distance of so many centers of the art of dance, it will be the perfect place for dancers to shop, whether for basic dancewear or for cutting-edge Capezio fashion. It's bound to become a favored haunt for dancers of all ages and at all levels."
The store will be equipped with the full Capezio range in all the company's brands: Capezio, Harmonie and the recently added dance and dance footwear accessories brand, Bunheads. In addition, there will be a "Kids Corner."
"Capezio flagship stores on an international level reflect the enthusiasm and energy of the industry," said Schauer. "We pride ourselves on our ability to offer expert fitting and service to the performing arts community. I am so pleased to be fully representing the Capezio brands in such a central location in the dance world."
Founded in 1887 as a shop across the street from the Metropolitan Opera, the company has now greatly expanded its product line to meet the demands of contemporary consumers by introducing new colors, silhouettes and technology to a full range of dance, apparel and more. The company currently operates retail stores in Manhattan, Hollywood, Dallas, Cleveland, Boston, Austin and Las Vegas. It has also expanded internationally by opening this year a Capezio dance theater shop in London and Amsterdam.see more
