(Filed Under Fashion News). After announcing the closing of its yarn plant in China Grove, N.C. resulting in the loss of 185 jobs, Hanesbrands, Inc. is now announcing the early closure of its Eden textile plant in N.C., which will occur by the end of January 2009 or in the first two weeks of February, leaving 600 employees out of work.
Originally, the company had claimed the plant would close by the end of summer 2009, but was able to pinpoint a more specific window once production demand was determined, said spokesman Matt Hall. "Now we have greater visibility to orders and the production that is needed," he said. "With the slack economy and with less demand, we've determined our production schedule."
